Biography

Dr. Menocal was Born in Havana Cuba in 1958, and was raised in Latin America, where he completed his degree in Medical School at the prestigious Javeriana University in Bogota, Colombia.

In 1982, he moved to the States and completed his internship and residency in Family Medicine at Georgetown University / Providence Hospital program in Washington, DC.

Board Certified in Family Medicine, Dr. Menocal started practicing medicine in 1985, in Frederick, which he still calls home. Joined initially Dr’s Hickey and Riddick, and later led the expansion of the group into Parkview Medical Group.

Dr. Menocal noticed that patients that were under insured or had no insurance at all didn’t have a place they could go to for equal health care service. So in 2006, he decided to start a practice that catered to these patients. He also devotes many hours to the care of adults or the elderly with Medicare. He still performs house calls when needed.

His primary focus of the 14 years in practice has been the vaccination of children enrolled in the MCHIP program in the Frederick community. Menocal Family Practice has administered over 110,000 Free Vaccines to the Children in the community.

Dr. Menocal serves on a few boards and has received awards from the University of Maryland School of Medicine for Outstanding Clinical Preceptor in 2014 (Alpha Omega Alpha) and continues to be a Preceptor for other Medical Colleges & Universities.

He has received numerous citations for his work, including Lord Nickens Community Service Award from the Human Relations Commission, the Good Samaritan Award from Frederick Memorial Hospital and the Peace Crafter Award from CALM, a nonprofit seeking to solve problems through mediation. He was also named as one of the “People to Watch” in the 2016 Frederick Magazine.

He has been a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians since 1985 & of the Maryland Academy of Family Physicians. He is fluent in Spanish & English.

In his free time, he likes to write a Column for the Frederick NewsPost and enjoys traveling and exploring the relaxed surroundings of his farmhouse property.
