Biography
Melody Pairo became an RN in 1979 after graduating from college in Florida. From there, she moved to Hawaii. Her first job was a nurse in a rural area on the North Shore of Oahu. She was exposed to many unusual diseases, one being Leprosy. There she learned how to take X-rays and expose the film. Melody helped with surgical procedures, filling prescriptions out of our small pharmacy, and doing all of the other nursing duties required. She stayed for a few years then moved back to the continental United States.
Melody went back to school and obtained her BSN degree from Salisbury State University. She worked at PRMC hospital in Salisbury, DM. She worked on the medical floor, CCU step down unit, and in the emergency room. She then decided to go back to school, again.
She lived in Ocean City, MD, and during this time, she traveled to St. Agnes Hospital on the weekends to work the “weekend” option plan in the Surgical ICU step down unit. This allowed her to go to school full time and work on the weekends. She then took a job at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, MD’s brand new emergency room. She worked there for years and finished her Master’s in nursing with her Family Nurse Practitioner certification in 1996. She worked in the Emergency Department starting the first “fast-track” as a brand new Nurse Practitioner. She then worked in an adjacent clinic to this hospital where she stayed until 1999.
An opportunity to work for Genesis Health Care as a Nurse Practitioner came about and Melody worked at the nursing home and office. This is where she met her partners at her current office. The practice became Delmarva Internal and Family Medicine in 2004. Office closed July 8, 2022. Melody was excited to join Menocal Family Medicine on July 11, 2022. Where she was able to remain at her Salisbury office.
